Description

Many organizations are moving to the cloud to protect their infrastructure, reduce infrastructure costs, and improve their backup capabilities. As a cybersecurity practitioner, you may very well be asked to assist in the selection and implementation of a cloud computing service model.

Go to Basic Search: Strayer University Online Library to locate and integrate at least two quality, academic resources (in addition to your textbook) on the cloud computing service models defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). https://www.nist.gov You may also use government websites, such as Cybersecurity from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Please respond to the following in a post of at least 200 words:

  • Compare and contrast the cloud computing service models defined by NIST.
  • Integrate practical examples of organizations you have researched that that are using the various platforms, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of each.
  • Provide full citations and references, formatted according to Strayer Writing Standards.
  • For assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

In 60 to 75 words, please respond to at least one other post. Choose to respond to those who have few or no responses.

Note: You will find the information from this post and the feedback you receive on it useful as you prepare your final Cloud Computing assignment due this week.

Hello Class,

Compare and contrast the cloud computing service models defined by NIST. NIST three models consist of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. Each cloud model offers features and functionalities and it is crucial for organizations to know what is the difference between all of them . SaaS makes use of the Internet to deliver applications, which are managed by a third-party vendor, to its users. With SaaS remote installation, configuration, and maintenance by the vendor the client’s IT department has more for more important issues involving the client’s company. This saves time and money. The issue with Saas is less secure and there is no one size fit all so everything has to be customization which makes it more difficult compared to other on-premise apps. Examples of SaaS is Google workplace, dropbox, Cisco WebEx, Concur and GoToMeeting. PaaS provides a framework where customized applications can be built upon by developers. PaaS is easy, low-cost development/deployment of apps. Also PaaS it allows the developers to customize apps without worrying about the software. Example of PaaS is Google App Engine, Apache Stratos, Heroku and OpenShift. IaaS is the computing resources that makes it capable for accessing and monitoring computers, storage and networking. IaaS is very flexible cloud computing model with a simple deployment if storage. The issue with IaaS is its limitations and securiyt concerns. IaaS Examples of IaaS is Amazon Web Services, Cisco Metapod, Rackspace, Linode and DigitalOcean.
