Description
In the attached Excel Workbook, there are two spreadsheets one entitled “Differentiation” in which you are required to calculate the approximate derivative of the data set provided. The second sheet is called “Integration” and you are to conduct two numerical integrations to estimate the distance traveled. Specific steps for this analysis are:
- Open the Sheet “Differentiation”
- In Cell C4 establish the formula (change in distance over change in time) to estimate the speed
- Copy the equation from Cell C4 in every cell down to Cell C19
- Open the Sheet “Integration”
- In Column C establish a formula for one of the numerical integration techniques
- Copy the equation to all other cells in the C column where the formula is needed
- In Cell C35 provide the value of the numerical integral evaluated from 0 to 420 seconds
- In Column D establish a formula to numerically integrate the values in Column C to result in the distance traveled
- Copy the equation to all other cells in the D column where the formula is needed
- In Cell D35 provide the value of the numerical integral over the entire time span of data
If you do not complete this assignment in class today, it will become homework due at the beginning of the next class period.
