TRANS-CULTURAL GERIATRICS ASSIGNMENT (see rubric below)

Conduct an interview with a neighbor, acquaintance, or other individual over 55 years old, with a distinct cultural or ethnic background or whose country of origin is not the US (and not the student’s own culture). The focus is on interviewing someone from another cultural background. Write a short addressing the following paper (3 to 5 pages, typed, double-spaced pages, 750 to 1500 words):

  • How does this person think that are older people treated in their country/culture of origin?
  • How does this person think that are older people treated in in mainstream US culture?
  • Discuss similarities and differences to aging. MUST INCLUDE AT LEAST 2 PROFESSIONAL JOURNAL REFERENCES
  • Reflects on what it was like and what you learned by doing this interview. Applies previous knowledge of caring interview (MUST INCLUDE AT LEAST 1 REFERENCE).
  • Overall Clarity, Organization, Spelling, Grammar and APA format
